So who still buys Ruger's?

Since Ruger supported the first 'assault weapon' ban and is getting ready to switch over to supply their Mini-14/30 to overseas and law enforcement here only......Who still supports them? They are already giving in to the Second Ban and it hasn't even been enacted yet.

I will never buy another Ruger firearm again. Corporate America can kiss my .....cat.

I did not know about Ruger selling to law enforcement only.... Can you tell where to look for more info? If they do do that, it would bring the price of mini's up .......

Im a die hard Ruger fan as you can tell by my alias.I cant up hold Ruger for the bad decision to limit Mag's for the Mini-14 or 30 to 5 Rds instead of the legal limit of 10Rds.As far as them supporting the assault weapons ban, well Ive heard Bill Ruger didnt think any citizen didnt need more than 10Rds in a Hand gun. Then Ive heard people say other wise,so I dont have an opinion on that.As far as Ruger not makeing the Mini-14 for the general public this is the first Ive heard of it,and I own stock in the company and they usually inform us of any change so there's no confusion.I have a Mini-14 chambered for the .222 it was made for Country's citizens that arent allowed to have Military caliber Rifle caliber Rifles.Keep us informed I will watch this thread closely.

    nitrouz;
It's pure asinine to make a statement like this without having any evidence to back it up. You obviouly don't know anything about why Bill Ruger said what he said. The original ban was on all guns not just handguns. Bill Ruger helped reduce it to just hanguns. I did the Research.

Where is your Research and Proof?

    IMHO
The only good piece they built was the 10/22, even though the mounting of the barrel to the aluminum reciever has a bit to be desired, cause its so easy to strip out.
Their handguns and rifle (again IMHO), are crude in looks and function compared to the Remington, Winchester and others.
Not that Smith & Wesson is that much better in hand guns.

I prefer rifles bySako, Weatherby, Remington & Winchester, in handguns Sig's & HK, due to the fit & finnish.

Are American gun makers becoming second class compared to the Euro's?

I'll still buy them, after all, I've been forced to quit looking for American made products at the store, since there are no more to be found, so buying a Ruger has at least one good thing going for it, its American made, even if it is by a company with opinions that conflict with mine. I've always liked Ruger guns, and I always will most likely. Its kind of like shopping at Wal-Mart. I dont like it that I'm supporting a company that sells hardly one American made product, but 99% Chinese made, but I dont really have much choice these days, so I'm calling it quits on that quest for American made products.[V][:(]

I have always been a big fan of Winchester firearms, but I have two Rugers that are as good or better then any of the other 29 firearms I own. They are made in the USA, are not over priced, and the accuracy of my M-77 is quite impressive. My 45 LC is built stronger then most Colt SSA's. I am currently in the market for a Red Label, and it will be my next purchase. I am an LEO, and I have heard nothing of Ruger's intention to sale the Mini-14 to only LEO's. A very close friend just bought one last week, and he is not an LEO. I would need more proof then this topic before I slandered a decent Gun Manufacture who has went out of their way to stand behind us gun owners, and who have undying support for the Bill of Rights.

    Each to his own.

I consider my Rugers to be excellent quality for the price and then some. That's with the P models in 9mm and 45, my 357 Speed Six and Security Six, as well as both long and short bbl's in the 22 lineup. In fact I have nothing but good to say on the Mini as well. No it's not a 300 yd shooter, but does what it does well.

Never had a breakdown and have owned several for over 30-years.

As for politics, I'm not voting for Ruger, I'm buying their guns to shoot! And, they do it well. [^] JMO

I have always enjoyed a Ruger's quality. You can tell the difference just by holding them. I currently own a 10/22 Deluxe and its as nice as they come though the trigger leaves something to be desired IMHO. I haven't done the research myself so I can't say yeah or nay to their political stance, but I will look into it. I hope to some day own an M77 though. Beautiful rifles.

Here's how I see things. We have to strike a balance between dishing retribution out to companies that already have to hire massive legal teams just to keep their heads above water and not forcing a quality product off the market. How many companies are we going to force out of the market before we are only left to choose between a Jennings and a Lorcin?

Have not bought any in a while. If I was to get rid of all my Rugers, I would loose half my collection. I don't think so. Balance price with quality and they are hard to beat.

A couple of my favorite rifles are Ruger. They are solid for the money and they also seem to put their stuff on sale alot more then any other manufacturers. Not really in the market for anything new but if I was i could think of a couple more of their pieces I wouldn't mind addind to my collection.

Sounds like someone is trying to sell some Mini 14/30's--I've heard irresponsible dealers make comments like that before when I've glanced at the Mini's in shops or at shows, "Ruger's going to be banning those, so you better buy one now..."

Give me a break! The sort of nonsense people will spread to try to make a sale!

I don't have anything really bad to say about rugers except that most of them are so f'in ugly. That company has no style. Their handguns are so bulky and fugly I don't buy them. Not that they don't work well and not that they aren't reliable....they usually are...I just hate the fit and feel and the looks of them. When I owned a Mini-14 I loved to shoot it....was a nice looking gun....probably because it was a copy of the springfield design rather than a pure ruger design.

I still do and will continue to, quality and an attractive price! If we boycott everyone, who will make guns? Like it was said earlier, I don't want less choices. Research has shown that the more restaurants in a community the more people eat out. I think this applies to guns as well, the more on the dealer's shelf, the more likely I'll "need" one.

Concerning the Ruger rumor, I saw a Davidson's Law Enforcement Dealer guide recently, noticed that it listed the stock Mini-14 & the LE flash hider model. Thought it was kind of strange for Davidson's to be selling stock Ruger Mini-14's to Law Enforcement! Looks like Ruger is manufacturing LE only 20rd mags again.

Drobs did you notice the price for those LE G model mini-14's compared to the regular Joe mini'14's? Looks like them 20 round mags and flash surpresser add quite a bit to the price.[:)]

The Ruger Old Army blackpowder pistol is (IMHO, of course)the best bp pistol out there. It is VERY strong, handles nicely and digests everything that I given it, to date.

I'm hoping that the 45LC conversion cylinder(s) hold up half as well as the gun itself. If so, I will be one happy camper!

The other thing you've got to remember, Nitrouz, is if you're buying from a private party, the $$$ doesn't go to Ruger. This is one way to avoid confrontations between YOUR standards and "Corporate America."

    Just my 2 cents worth...

Ugly maybe, not functional! Hardly! I own several rugers and they perform flawlessly, I plan on buying more.
What about the Superblackhawk, the convertable six, The Mark 1 and Mark 2, their all fine firearms! The list goes on!
No matter what you think of Bill Ruger, he will go down in History as one of the great firearms designers of this century!

I have 2 ruger's currently, but would have more if they'd make thier semi's more accurate. Also, I think it was a big mistake when they re-released thier .44 carbine using the same type system as the mini's. They should have released it again on the old pattern.
I really like their Red Label shotguns, especially thier stainless/synthetic all-weather gun. I think that is a great idea.
Now, for thier bolts. I think they are good guns, but I typically opt for Remmie's.

Well, by the username you can guess my opinion already, but I guess I'm a little wound up by some of the comments so I will share my opinion anyways. I currently have two 10/22's, two Mark II pistols, Kp-89, Kp-95, Kp-97, Sp-101, Old style .44 Carbine, .243 Ultra-Light Bolt Action, .270 Bolt, 7mm Bolt and not one of these rifles or pistols has ever failed to fire, feed or eject a single round. I find the quality is better than Remington, which I have an 870 pump, Smith and Wesson, which I have a 22S pistol, and Browning, which I have a Gold Hunter Auto shotgun. I cannot comment on other brands since I dont own them but anyone that puts down Ruger, the man or the gun, does not in my opinion know S***.

I have SEVERAL rugers and will buy more. I have some mini 14s so what do I care that LEOs will also be carrying them. At least they won't be out guned so much! KY state police used to carry the mini 14 in the 3 round burst pattern until an innocent bystander was killed in a shoot out by one. Now the state police don't carry them any more! Now they carry M1A1s!

Just picked up another Mk II target 22 today. It was used, but so what. Ruger makes some great guns which can be honed into really great guns with a little bit of gunsmithing and aftermarket parts. Beauty is what works.

I really have no reason to believe that Ruger has sold out anyone's 2nd Amendment rights. Where one gets that I am not sure.

PA: I won a $50 bet with my P-95 when I bought it new. My buddy said I would get atleast one malfunction every 1,000 rds. I bet him $50 I could fire 1,000 rds of 9mm Wolf without cleaning and without a malfunction. I won the $50 and even used some .40cal mags with no problem. I did clean it after 1,200+ rds and it now has over 2,800 with no malfunctions.
