If that song doesn't bring tears to the strongest then it's just because you don't have a pulse.

Old man Wrigley lived in that white house
Down the street where i grew up
Momma used to send me over with things
We struck a friendship up
I spent a few long summers out on his old porch swing
Says he was in the war when in the navy
Lost his wife, lost his baby
Broke down and asked him one time
How ya keep from going crazy
He said I'll see my wife and son in just a little while
I asked him what he meant
He looked at me and smiled, said
[Chorus]
I raise my hands, bow my head
I'm finding more and more truth in the words written in red
They tell me that there's more to life than just what i can see
Oh i believe
Few years later i was off at college
Talkin' to mom on the phone one night
Getting all caught up on the gossip
The ins and outs of the small town life
She said oh by the way son, old man Wrigley's died.
Later on that night, i laid there thinkin' back
Thought 'bout a couple long-lost summers
I didn't know whether to cry or laugh
If there was ever anybody deserved a ticket to the other side
It'd be that sweet old man who looked me in the eye, said
[Chorus]
I raise my hands, bow my head
I'm finding more and more truth in the words written in red
They tell me that there's more to life than just what i can see
I can't quote the book
The chapter or the verse
You can't tell me it all ends
In a slow ride in a hearse
You know I'm more and more convinced
The longer that i live
Yeah, this can't be
No, this can't be
No, this can't be all there is
[Chorus]
When I raise my hands, bow my head
I'm finding more and more truth in the words written in red
They tell me that there's more to life than just what i can see
I believe
Oh, I
I believe
I believe
I believe
I believe

I was drunk, the day my mom got out of prison,
And I went to pick her up, in the rain.
But before I could get to the station in my pick-up truck,
She got runned over by a damned ol' train.
"Get your tongue out of my mouth cause I'm kissin' you goodbye" by Ray Stevens
Some will die in hot pursuit
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain
"Today I passed you on street"(and my heart fell at your feet)I can't help it, I'm still in love with you...Hank Sr. and later recorded by Ray Charles Orchestra.Ray does Country music album.[:D]

I wore out a tape of Grand Tour after my first wife, and tried to drink myself into the grave. Even today it brings up emotions I hate feeling.
Sandy came into my life and saved me from all the heartach I felt, until Jeremy died, and I went down that whiskey road again.
She saved me once more, and I don't know how she had the strength because she was living the same hell as I was, but somehow she found a way.
When Josh died, it was my turn to do my part. I felt what the real pain of losing a child was without a whiskey chaser. She was weakened from her stroke, and it was my turn to be the rock for someone to lean on.
It isn't pleasant, and some days are harder than others, but I'm thankful God has given me the strength to be here for her. It's about time I was able to give back to her, some of what she's given me.
Songs sometimes bring up feelings, but only feelings of things we've experienced or witnessed. Some are generally close, and some hit the nail on the head. I have to avoid those.
OK, it ain't country. But it damn near killed me. I played this song over and over and over after my first wife died, drunk as hell and tearing up like a baby. Been 15 years, but it still tears me up.
Macushla! Macushla! Your sweet voice is calling
Calling me softly again and again
Macushla! Macushla! I hear its dear pleading
My blue eyed Macushla, I hear it in vain.
Macushla! Macushla! Your white arms are reaching
I feel their enfolding caressing me still
Fling them out from the darkness my lost love
Macushla, let them find me and bind me again if they will.
Macushla! Macushla! Your red lips are saying
That death is a dream and love is for aye
Then awaken Macushla, awake from your dreaming
My blue eyes Macushla, awaken to stay...

I think some punk rock band did it originally, but it fits for the older Johnny Cash. Chilling.

Not always considered a "Country" song, but it was from a "Western" movie.
And I went to pick her up, in the rain.
But before I could get to the station in my pick-up truck,
She got runned over by a damned ol' train.
Can't get sadder than that. Sniff.

If you watch todays award shows you can see just how true this song (MURDER ON MUSIC ROW ) really is.
"You picked a fine time to leave me Lucille"
many years ago, a trucker friend of mine said the long haulers changed the title to: "You picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel". [:D] [:D]
