Herpes is hated also, but that doesn't mean that I am going to go and knowingly contract it, or have sex with those that I know who have it, simply because it exists in the "real world".
This a tactic I haven't seen before....
Not a tactic, an analogy, in response to a comment from Jim about compromise. Tongue in cheek, of course, but applicable.
Compromise in and of itself isn't a bad thing. As someone earlier pointed out, when the compromise is all on one side it really is a dictatorship. So far, us "gun-nuts" are the only ones losing ground here. How the !@#$ is THAT compromise?? We keep getting shafted via the proverbial "slippery slope" (which, btw some anti's keep trying to say doesn't really exist), keep having to jump through more and more hoops and for what? So some panty-waist, weak-kneed, chicken-souled robot can feel safer? The goal is purely to eliminate private possesion of arms, it has nothing to do with crime, yet we keep being told to "compromise".
When will it be enough? We've been denied FA (except ceratin areas, with Nannys permission which equals privelege, not right) even though legally owned FA aren't used in crime, have to get a permit to carry (hmmmm, isn't BEARing arms protected?)yet the "bad guys" carry all the time, gotta leave a paper trail a mile long to buy from a dealer , I could go on (endlessly, I know, I can be long-winded[:p]).
These compromises affect ONLY those who are LEAST inclined to criminal misuse of firearms. So how has this helped any, except to further us down the road to total prohibition of firearms? If the tens of thousands of gun laws on the books haven't curbed gun crime, why should we "compromise" yet again? Time to address the REAL issues of crime and punishment, and they begin and end with the human mind. Time to stop placing the blame on the instrument used and punish people for their actions.
Perhaps you missed the word "AFTER".
I know full well of the discussions and bargaining that was done to GET the constitution ratified.
Perhaps you missed the part about the Constitution being a work of compromise, as well as missing the point that the Constitution itself had to be amended in order to be ratified.

Boy fellers, if you think I am apathetic you are sadly mistaken. If you have learned nothing else about me you should see I am not apathetic.[;)]
As 45 pointed out we have let this (dastardly[}:)]) compromise go way to far one way, and now we MUST REVERSE THE PROCESS!!![:(]
And as this never ending, needless "debate" goes on and on and on and on, the people who are our real and true enemies, the gun grabbers, toil away building their ever more powerful and effective "machine" with which to defeat us.
I imagine that when they are in need of amusement from their labor, they stop for a moment, look this way, and quietly snicker. I say they do it "quietly" so as not to disturb us and our endless arguments. Because if they did, we just might unite and become an unstoppable force.

Someone has to be a government loving,......freedom stealing "dirtball" for me to go to the level of "despising" them.
Marc, perhaps I should state my "view" as well.
While I can tolerate a differing opinion as well as anyone else can, let me explain my difference.
Opinions are great. Express yourself all you wish. When it comes to "rights", here is where our opinions will part ways. Before ANY of us were ever born, there existed ( and still does) a contract known as the constitution. In it is a bill of rights, that are inherent birthrights, and inalienable rights. These predated ANY of us. It was our inheritence before we ever were born. Now, some clown with an opinion is one thing. Express away. HOWEVER, when said clown tramples MY birthright, my RIGHTS, to fit their perverted VIEW of things......
Well, lets just say I am uncomfortable with that. I would just asoon see them burning at the stake, or swinging from the gallows.
Example:
A citizen doesn't like ANY type of guns. Ok, then you as an individual, should be allowed to ban them in THEIR home, business, car, ect.
The second they step OUTSIDE thier own domain, they invade MINE. Those people who support groups, politicians, organizations, ect. OUT to be tried for treason and HUNG.
I have ZERO tolerance for people who step past voicing an "opinion" and step to the realm of action to deprive their fellow countrymen/women of what is THEIRS (aka rights).
Their IS an amendment process to our "contract". Either they should do things PROPERLY, or they should shut the hell up. I think my distain for those type of people have made me feel much more "readily to act" against them. I am fed up with these "comprimise" folks.
Hang em' all.
I happen to agree 100% with the above, and understand your disgust with those scenarios.
All I was saying is that while I don't agree with Jims views on "reality" as he calls it,.......I don't think he is the type that is doing any of the above, except voicing his differing opinion.
I also believe he would be standing shoulder to shoulder in the pit with folks like us if it comes to that.
Don't get me wrong,.....I don't understand his beliefs, but I guess he can't understand ours either?
I have given up trying to point out where he is wrong, but I wanted to let him know that I did not "despise" him personally.

Jim,......yes I know you do. I am not the best person in the world at getting my exact thoughts across in writing![:0]
You believe in the second also, but don't think that a "literal" interpretation will ever fly per se.
I will never depart from the "strict" view, and will keep fighting to get all of the illegal laws removed. We all know that they accomplish nothing, other than removing honest citizens rights accorded to them.
Criminals will NEVER be stopped, and yes,.......you will always have the occasional "law-abiding" citizen go postal. I knew one!
A fellow here that was in the same type of business as I for even longer than me "bonked out" a few years ago.
He and his wife had just moved into a huge new home, and shortly afterward he was served with divorce papers.
Evidently one day he flipped, and waited for her to come home,......shot her in the head with a .357, and then killed himself.
There is also no way to stop a "crime of passion."
I didn't know the guy well, just had seen him around here for years in the supply houses, and at the county pulling permits.

I find a lot of this very entertaining. I read from so many keyboard commandos how the traitors to the constitution should by shot on sight. Hung from the nearest tree. So forth and so on. Blah Blah Blah. Yet I don't see anything happening. I don't see any attempts on various well known law makers that have fought and passed these many unconstitutional anti-gun laws. I mean come on guys. Put up or shut up. There are traitors to the constitution in our governemnt right now. Don't compromise and let our version of reality get in your way. ACT. PROTECT THE CONSTITUTION. What are you waiting for ? The big one ? So you can go around and talk big and say you struck a blow for freedom yesterday but taking out some minion of the beast while hiding in your basement hoping to god they don't find you. Come on why wait. You guys are that serious, then you should act now. Don't let those unconsitutional laws stop you. You know whats right. Just do it.

I really want one, but don't have any spare $$$ (still building that darn house) to go get one - once you put glass on it, the cost could exceed $3000. If you win, I know you'd have the change to spare, so help a fellow gun-nut out?[:D]
4EVER,,,,, You got it man. *L* It would be an honor. I'll get one for myself and we can see who's best. 2 out of 3. Followed closely by some seriously good Bar-B-Q
I intend to allow the Beast to gather bunches of cowards, sycophants, Beast-lovers, and fellow travelers and put them in slit trenches before I move.
That is what dictators ALWAYS do...kills off those that collaborated with him...for he is perfectly aware that somebody that sells out his OWN free country will sell the dictator out, also.
*LOL* Don't worry about it Jim. Try looking up the later works of Don Pendelton. Circa Mid 80's. The Executioner Paperbacks. Good entertainment. Some though take it little to much to heart. You know?
I have also read Moby Dick, The Last of the Mohecians, see Spot Run, Out of the Ashes, Every Sicience Fiction by Issiac Asimov I could lay my hands on..the list is endless. I expect I read more books per month then you, 45long, read in a year..perhaps in your entire life.
I read fiction, technical manuals, gunsmithing manuals, non-fiction, biographies,...I am sitting here looking at a wall of books that I have gathered. I have 8-foot bookcases scattered througout the house...all loaded with books that I have read.
I am sorry that you are envious. You could start TODAY learning something, if you were so inclined...the path comes about by turning off the tv and starting to study something besides baseball and the stock market.
Actually, I don't read as often as I would like. I used to be big fan of Pendelton. These day I like Steven King, some Tom Clancy. I like the classics like Poe, Doyle. A good Bio is always good. I just don't have the time anymore to sit down and get into one. I did manage to read A Team of Rivals recently. Very good. Biographical Crime stories are great. I find it interesting that many of the heros from history had many flaws but fought through to do the right thing. Same with our criminals. Some have romantizied so much that unless you really look, you would never how truely disturbed many were. Or how fate put them where they ended up. It makes me wonder sometimes, if they had just done this or that instead of,,,,,,,,,Would we even know who they were today.
I only read thing I am required to, or I really like. Dyslexia kind of slows me down. I read the newspapers, but they are usually full of 'dirty laundry' or other lies. I read technical and scientific books and articles and certainly all I can about firearms. I have been know to read an occasional Play Boy, just for the jokes and articles mind you!!![;)]
Even being retired, I have precious little time to read...so I read in snatches. I have 4 books started as we speak...and this internet consumes time, also.
I am in a continual state of attempting to right the wrongs of 25 years of throwing stuff in the doors of my shops ..letting it land where it may.
Cannot even get to some of my equipment. Have put up a pallet rack, and am in the process of putting up two more...hopefully I will get control of the situation real soon. I enjoy taking a rusty piece of metal and turning it into some thing I can use.
I just traded off a universal mill for a Kuhlmann Engraving machine ..and I hope soon to have the capability to engrave on scope adjustment knobs the necessary information for long range shooting.
Making the knobs is no trick...but the lines and numbers must be precise...or all is lost.

What? no laser cutter? [;)]
I enjoy fabrication myself. However, the expense of metal stops many projects from being done. Not enough good scrap to do some of the things I would like.
Of coarse then there IS that pesky time thing too.
The problem with trying to clean up a shop HB is that just when you start to make headway, you realize that you have more room for more stuff. And BANG, you go get more stuff to put in the space you just cleared. It's a never ending vicious circle.

Well, well, well;
Here we have a man that speaks from a position of TOTAL experience !!!
I call it.. "Nature abhors a vacuum".and seeks to fill it.
I generally last, in these `cleanups, long enough to make trails thru the `stuff'.then get tired/the urge to turn on the lathe and make something.
Promptly, a garage sale or auction comes along.and the `backfilling begins again..
I just gave 200 bucks for the Hunter 700 tire balancer ..have balanced 4 tires with it.. completely successful.
In fact ..I had that set of tires done a couple weeks ago, and they still bounced. 32 bucks down the drain. Now I fixed 'em....
I have been changing my own tires for years, unless buying a new set, and it always irritated me the cost of balancing.
Running garage sales and auctions allows me to buy sets of tires for 10 bucks apiece ..and nearly new tires, most times.
Well HB,
We have another thing in common. I have been a 'tire' man my whole life. Started on the farm. And worked a tire service truck when I got back from RVN the first time. While In AK I took a job as a counter man in tire shop In Wasilla for a a couple of months between jobs.[:D]
HB,,, yeah I clean my garage/shop area bout once a year. Whether it needs it or not. I do admit to some shame at this point though. My reloading area is a disaster right now. Granted it would only take about 20 minutes to get back in shape, that fact alone only contributes to the shame. And it's such a nice bench. Home to my Dillion 550B. I keep a clean picture of it so I can remember what it looks like clean and kept.

Just a quick post on the subject, as it is not worthy of much debate....
When a minority shows their manhood (something that is deeply frowned on in the "feminized Amerika") the first method of attack for those with a shriveled pair (Or pair that never even dropped) is to group together to show that they are the majority, and therefore must be right. Having failed at that, they must then denigrate the individualists for not being "group thinkers" bacause a) individualism is ALWAYS baaaaaaaaaaaad ([;)]), b) they think if they "humiliate" you, you will cow and "join the herd" and c) because the goal is to find some way, any way, to feel like their pair has un-shriveled just a teency bit, or dropped a half of a milimeter so if they can brow beat you back into the herd, that is "their way" of feeling like men again.....[V]
wolf,
First, please put your pants back on!! We don't need to see your 'manhood'!!![}:)]
Funny you should mention 'individualism' when you seen to frown on it so heavily. You and your associates have formed a 'collective' and anyone who exhibits any 'individualism' by not completely agreeing with 'your collective' is dumped on. [;)]
Well I submit to you I am the 'true individualist' because neither side of this issue cares for me because I don't agree with what is currently in play and I don't agree with either sides 'ideals'.
Think about it, you are no better than those you despise![:(]

The only real question is how much compromise can you except in the world. I would guess, from your response, very little. That great. But to say you will except NO compromise is telling me you refuse to except reality!!! If you can't except the 'real' world, where do you intend to live????[?][?]
Jim,the point you fail to understand is that there is NO compromising what God has given you.

If you win, will you give me enough money to buy a springfield M1A national match? I really want one, but don't have any spare $$$ (still building that darn house) to go get one - once you put glass on it, the cost could exceed $3000. If you win, I know you'd have the change to spare, so help a fellow gun-nut out?[:D]
Why would I get in the way of that good work ?
I read fiction, technical manuals, gunsmithing manuals, non-fiction, biographies,...I am sitting here looking at a wall of books that I have gathered. I have 8-foot bookcases scattered througout the house...all loaded with books that I have read.
I am sorry that you are envious. You could start TODAY learning something, if you were so inclined...the path comes about by turning off the tv and starting to study something besides baseball and the stock market.
Even being retired, I have precious little time to read...so I read in snatches. I have 4 books started as we speak...and this internet consumes time, also.

What? no laser cutter? [;)]
I enjoy fabrication myself. However, the expense of metal stops many projects from being done. Not enough good scrap to do some of the things I would like.
Of coarse then there IS that pesky time thing too.
Well, well, well;
Here we have a man that speaks from a position of TOTAL experience !!!
We have another thing in common. I have been a 'tire' man my whole life. Started on the farm. And worked a tire service truck when I got back from RVN the first time. While In AK I took a job as a counter man in tire shop In Wasilla for a a couple of months between jobs.[:D]

Everyone is free here. Dictator - I think NOT !

Jim, once our goal is achieved, we will go our separate ways as men do.
Freemind,
The point I am TRYING to get across to you is this compromise you so hate is part of the real world. IT WILL NOT GO AWAY no matter how hard you try to get rid of it.
