This ain't nothing check out the late and unlamented Sugar Bear thread. It took up so much bandwidth the Powers that Be locked it and threaten to neuter anyone who tried to bring it back.

I just went and read this whole thread.

Good God the time I have killed on this website over the years borders on criminal.

I did'nt go thru all the pages of prospective members, altho I read a few. my wife let me park the Harley in the living room...once! I told her, it does'nt leak oil, it marks it's spot! she was'nt impressed so out to the garage thereafter. I'm in my red silk smoking jacket with a Dinaboli (my Dad called them Guinea stinkers) no alcohol for me, so a Tonic with lime will have to do. my poem I hope has'nt been used so here goes.

    There's a Race of men
    that don't fit in.
    A Race that can't
    stay still,
    So they break the Hearts
    of Kith and Kin,
And Roam the world at will.

Ha ha! I lived in Aspen Colorado for a few years and belonged to a martini drinking club called the Aspen Pro Leisure Tour. It was all about making fun of the elite class of snobs there. We had smoking jackets and hats with tassels made for all the members. Good times.

Arguing was more of a razzing, an no one got their panties in a wad, but then no one wore panties back then as some do now...[;)]

I forget, is the Order of the Canary * a counter for this group or did that form on it's own accord?

    Never Smoked....
Use to Drink Wild Turkey Kentucky Bourbon years past
    Now 3-4 beers per Year
No Smoking Jacket just An Old Leather Biker Jacket
    And a Camo Coat.
I Did Write A Poem A few years ago.
    Will this Qualify ME???

" Hunting With My DAD "

    Sitting in a tree stand
    At 12 years Old
    It's So Cold
    This Is Really Getting Old
    But
Seeing a Buck With A Big Rack
    Is Worth All The Gold.

" Hunting with My Dad "

    Kneeling in a Blind
    In the Spring
    Hearing The Birds Sing
I think Is a Beautiful thing
    Making A Noise that sounds
    Like YERK YERK YERKY
    That's what it's Like
    To Call in a Turkey

    Some think its Weird
To want to Shoot A Big Bird
    With A Beard
    But
    " I Like It "

" Hunting with My Dad "

    It's a Cold Winter Day
With My Dad and His Beagle
They Both know Where to Find the Rabbits
    With
    The Skill Of An Eagle

" Hunting with My Dad "

    So Whether it is
    Hunting
    A Deer A Turkey
    Or A Rabbit
Before Long "You" Will Get the Habit.

    If You Go..
" Hunting With Your Dad "

    good question.
Some will die in hot pursuit
    And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
    While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
    Coming down the mountain

A lot of the members that replied in the early years are either dead or don't post anymore. I saw Dano there in 2001 and he hasn't posted in about three weeks now.

Rembrandt is long gone, Shane has not posted in a couple of years, the Beekeeper was gone and returned, but posts all too rarely. I am near the oldest remaining founding member, and I quit because I would not want to be part of any organization with so little class that they would have me for a member.

I often forget this forum but will never forget 218bee. I still call my fishing vest a smoking jacket and still have friends I met here. I have moved forward in life becoming a public servent. One of my kids has graduated high school and I shoot more than ever. I have been truely blessed in life and I am glad to have shared some of it with a few of you fine gentlemen. I wish you all well and hope to see you soon around the camp fire wearing your finest smoking jacket. Mine will be old, stinky, and full of holes but, I'm proud of it!

    Until next time,
    shane

I kept hearing rumors as I was on another gun auction site that I trusted , visited GB but was not committed at first ( my mistake )
even than it took years to start typing on the forum [:I] then I realized why not seem like a great bunch , besides worse they can do is bully me on the internet,
now that I retired this place and people are what I enjoy checking in on ( my wife says I enjoy it too much )

I always get a kick out of these threads from the Land of the Ancients that are unknown except for a select few, who seem to dredge one up once in a while for no particular reason.

Someday I am going to have to go look to see what this legendary 'Sweet Ursus' thread is all about. [8D]
