Kenosha riots- Kyle Rittenhouse

Mr. PerfectMr. Perfect Member, Moderator Posts: 66,381 ******

Anyone following this Rittenhouse trial? It's looking more and more like this should have never come to trial. Dude he shot just testified he pointed his gun at Kyle before Kyle shot him. LOL. The guy was a witness for the prosecution. LEWLZ!

Jeez, I feel bad Kyle has had to go through this kangaroo circus.

Some will die in hot pursuit
And fiery auto crashes
Some will die in hot pursuit
While sifting through my ashes
Some will fall in love with life
And drink it from a fountain
That is pouring like an avalanche
Coming down the mountain

I've been following the reporting of the trial and think it is a joke. I think he brought on the attacks by having an AR slung on his shoulder but when attacked had every right to defend himself. All three of his attackers acted aggressively by either grabbing for the gun, hitting him in the head or pointing a gun at him. I think it was stupid for him to be there in the first place but immaturity shouldn't be a crime. Bob

    How about this novel idea….

    Let the law decide.

”He that seeketh mischief, the same he shall find “

I agree he shouldn't have been there. If there he shouldn't have been armed. But after doing those stupid things should he have let the first guy take his gun and do god knows what with it? Should he have let the second guy continue to beat him in the head with a skateboard? Should he have let the third guy shoot him? The vet that was with Rittenhouse had some maturity and experience and said the first guy that started it all was just a jerk and not a threat. Rittenhouse had neIther the maturity or experience to know this and felt threatened. That's probably because the guy saw a kid and thought he could intimidate or overpower him easily. I think a case can be made for self defense but it won't excuse the stupid actions made that led up to what ultimately happened. Bob

He didn't even live in Kenosha... but in Antioch, Ill. 20 mile away.

Well that idiot that gave a 17 yr old will eventually be prosecuted also.

Well somehow he became an internet commando. Found his information online what was going on in Kenosha thru friends online according to testimony. Then he decided to go there and start Policing. Well he should have left the Policing up to the Police. If they needed any help they would have called their brothers from other locations..or the National Guard . And then claimed he was there for medical purposes. Baloney , He took an AR looking for a fight to the town and got bashed up with a skateboard . And riddle me this.. what dog in the fight did he have? He was not protecting HIS property.

This is a typical case of taking the Law into your own hands. And it will cost him dearly when this is thru. He killed two people and injured another. Again the Police was doing what they could and it was NO business of Kyle's.

"the last thing we need right now is a bunch of hopped up teenagers taking to the streets, armed and bound & determined to take our country back. That's NOT the way to go about it."

Well there is this: "The soldiers were of all ages from young boys to old men. The majority of the soldiers, however, were ages 18-24."

Discussing the age of revolutionary soldiers...

I would use it as a teaching moment being positive in regards to his motives and balancing the situation with reality and his experience.. I would keep him from the situation due to his inexperience not due to his motives. I do wish for the sake of this kid an adult in his life would have intervened with some wisdom, but they didn't.

Scout5 makes an excellent observation. Experience and maturity trump everything. For those comparing Rittenhose to actual young armed forces members, that is a false comparison. There is a reason for basic training and then assigning an experienced non-com to lead and watch over green troops. Rittenhouse had no training and no experienced supervision and yet people wonder why things went south. Bob

Not getting into any peeing contest with you. If you have a problem with the governments actions take it up with them.

Rittenhouse should have left the Policing up to the Police. And ..how many times has he carried an AR downtown in public?

  • Ruger4meRuger4me Member, Moderator Posts: 3,805 ******

" that is a false comparison. " I disagree as my post was about those who served in the revolutionary war, which included many a militia solder which may or may not have had any formal training... As far as letting my 17 year old do something like this, well I can't answer that as I never had children however I joined the Army at 17 with my parents approval.

That's a wide scenario with a lot of factors. At 17 all of my sons would have been willing to do what they thought was needed. It is my job to temper that and guide it in the right direction. If the situation was the right direction I would allow them to do so.

As stated above the situation this kid went to would not be something I would let my 17 year old son do.

    "Do you need ammo?"

Mostly I would advise against it.

The boy took the law into his own hands. Showing up with an AR to do what? Well he ended up killing two and injuring another. For What reason? I could understand if at home protection of ones family but not on walking down a public street confronting folks .
