well everyone, I just got back from the hospital, it's 2:01 A.M. central time, and time to light a cigar! It's a girl!! # 6 out of seven. 6th girl! 6#7oz.--18" long

Congratulations on the new little one! I'm going to strike up a bubble gum cigar in the parents honor....I think we should carry this thread out to the 400 mark and retire it's number for the record books.....It has served us well with many wasted hours of reading enjoyment....Future generations will one day question us regarding the "Longest Thread", then with pride we can refer back to the role each has played in its creation.
218, you aren't seeing things quite yet. It really was there. It seems to have disappeared along with the rest of page 7 and part of six? Maybe it offended minda and miss creant because we left them out, so they stole it and are holding it for ransom.Oh well.Travelor, congratulations!!!!! It seems practice makes perfect when it comes to dodging flying objects. Just remember that it does not look like a troll. And unusual names are quite popular these days.
I certainly hope that if any such retirement should occur, that it not be the club, just the pages...I have become quite accustomed to going strieght to this forrum, every time I sit down at the keyboard. There would be quite an empty space to fill, if every one goes thier seperate way...Mom Mom, Believe me, if any of them looked like a troll, I'd either suspect that they wern't done yet, and pop em back in, or suspect someone elce, and that....nuf said.Thanx for the congrats all, I shall tap into the special reserve brew later on, when I can sit back and enjoy the fine aroma of select hops, and the finest of malted barley, (all mash extracted). Just the way the Good Lord intended.

Well, just don't count on a contribution from me to push it closer to the 400 mark. I refuse to get caught up in silliness like that. No sir, count me out.Clouder..
Bogart!!!!I bet you give it up once it's empty!

The actual post number never changed even though page 7 disappeared....Sounds like some members are flirting with a gang style image makeover...sort of like David Niven playing a part intended for James Dean....Hope they don't lose the sophisticated image we have in the process...
Well, I'd better get in on the last ten posts leading up to big number 400.Fifteen minutes of fame and all that rot.I'd still like to know who the bloody hell absconded with page seven. I'd grown quite fond of it.I've called Inspector Hyde over at the Yard and he's put a couple of his top men on the investigation. We'll soon get to the bottom of this nasty bit of business.

Well I never would have thunk it but this thing made it past 400!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are we gonna start a new one or see how far this one is gonna go????????
I say...Good Show!, and such a jolly good time we've had getting to this moment. Many thanks to all who have participated. The record speaks for itself, and now perhaps we should put the thread into retirement, just as sports hero's who have acccomplished great things leave their records for future generations,....we too must bid farewell. In a final farewell gesture I slip into my smoking jacket, light up a bubblegum cigar...slowly blowing a smoke ring bubble, and raise my brandy glass of cognac in a toast to the greatest post of all.....the imortal "Smoking Jacket Club".....
With the exception of Rembrands fine farewell, which I did not see when I posted my last comments, this page #7 was like Crosby and Nash, without the two talented guys..218
This post would be a good commercial for the energiser bunny. It just keeps going and going and going............................................................................
In saying farewell, but NOT giving up on you guys, I would suggest that jackets remain a necessity for the next Thread. Is there some type of pin, or something we should give ourselves as memorabilia to this great thread? then we can add to them as time goes on, maybe if any of us ever gather for a reunion of the illustrious SSS of SSSJ's then we can show off our accumulations...

Someone with more computer skills than I could probably copy this to a file, save and attach it at a later date for future reference or for a reunion. Too bad we lost rhe original page 7....
Lord Rembrandt, Parts of this world record may have been lost along the way but they will be remembered just as The Smoking Jackets will.travelor, Don't you worry the Smoking Jacket Club will never die. This thread may but our spirit never will. Maby you need to start a new thread ( The Smoking Jacket Club 2 )Don't worry I have the membership list on paper.
How did this get all the way down to the bottom of page 2. Bringing it back to the top.
