    A thick NY strip steak fried to medium rare on the stovetop, (it's deep winter here) baked Idaho potato with lots of butter & sour cream, canned green beans, small curd cottage cheese, and a tall ice cold glass of buttermilk lightly salted.

    Tonight, or I should say this late afternoon. Going to try a New York strip steak I bought on sale for 5.99 a pound at our local Meijers store.  I usually pass by most of their steak sale offerings because they never look good to me.  This time around I first noticed that the steaks were a good one inch thick. Also the marbling of fat seemed right.  

    Plan on firing up my French imported cast iron frying pan on top of the stove and add some fresh sliced button mushrooms along with butter\olive oil sautéed sweet onion ringlets upon that steak.  Also a big Idaho baked potato that I have left over from yesterday that I will turn into American fries cooked with some more onion bits in butter.  A can of whole leaf spinach heated up with a dab of butter and a skoosh of apple cider vinegar, just to get my quota of veg for the day and a tall glass of ice cold lightly salted buttermilk to wash down.

    One of our neighbors brought over a huge slab of Italian cream cake this evening.  His mom makes a killer Italian cream cake and she now how much I love it, she usually sends some of it home with the neighbor and tells him to take it over to me .    We cut it up into three pieces and we ( Wifey, me and our neighbor) enjoyed it.

    Just had something this morning that I have not had in years ( actually decades),  a pop tart.  Wifey brought home a two pack of cherry poptarts and we shared them this morning.  Was not very good but it tasted pretty much just like I remember the last one I had maybe 25 or 30 years ago.
